Field Inspector and Support Specialist
Birch Bay Water and Sewer District is hiring for a 40 hour per week Field Inspector and Support Specialist. This position inspects and approves water and sewer installations to ensure compliance with District construction standards, administers and monitors the District’s cross connection prevention program, responds to customer service requests, and provides support for water and sewer departments as necessary.
This position will coordinate with Whatcom County for projects within the public right-of-way. Provide locates and coordinate with One-Call System to prevent damage to District facilities. Provide general support, including physical labor and on-call assistance to water and sewer department field crews. Work with computer software systems, including MS Office (or similar) software, billing, GIS, and drawing-related software (i.e. CAD, paint, MS Draw).
Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Two years practical experience or one year of practical experience with a minimum of one or more years of formal education in water/sewer line installation, inspection and maintenance, drafting and blueprint reading. Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a good driving record. Computer proficiency with general operations, navigation, email, Office and drawing programs. Ability to perform physically-demanding manual labor, work in confined areas and trenches in extreme weather, and lift 50 lbs.
